Where do you live and is it the right place for you?

Have you ever dreamt of living in a place like this? A tiny but warmed by fire kind of house? In the middle of a desolated landscape?

I have.

I also get nightmares from the idea alone. I love the city. I love the feeling of being able to go places whenever I want. To call a person, meet in a café, have a chat, be home 10 minutes later. Go to a movie, a restaurant.

I look at a house like this and can imagine the romance of it all. The sound of a burning fire in the fireplace. The reading of a book under a thick blanket. The hoping on working of Wi-Fi since you're 'at the end of the line'.(*) Or maybe: not caring about Wi-Fi anymore, at all. The amazing sunset from that one spot just outside the house you know looks gorgeous and is now your favorite photo project.

For me, at this point in my life, this is the ultimate FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) house. But maybe I should FOMO because I'm living in the city. Maybe I should fear missing out on true quiet time, the easy access to nature, the ability to look more inwards because in the country there is a lack of distractions.

What do you think? Do you live in a city or in a relative lonely spot on our huge world map? Is it the place you feel at your best?

(*) One B&B owner told me her Wi-Fi at times would not work. Her B&B was just a bit further 'on the line' than the hotel a few kilometers along the road. At peak hotel times (just before dinner or during breakfast) she would have almost no connection at her B&B. I wasn't bothered by it. I didn't use Steemit yet back then ;-)

(**) On my last post I shared a different picture of an abandoned house. @dmcamera told me "There is such sad history behind all the ruined houses you see in the glens" - I'm hoping she will tell me a bit more about this in the comments below!
