I'm still in the same street as my last few posts, if you can believe it! Although, I'm literally 'turning around the corner' right now, this house being the corner where one would meet: "Let's meet up at 8PM at the reddish pink house at the corner of Walstraat"
At some point people would just call it the corner house, everyone knowing which one was meant, as there's only one house at a corner worth mentioning or remembering.
I love the pots and plants in front of the house. I also love the side of the house, with lovely windows, looking over a small square that's part of the street.
I remember we had a short talk with a local, telling us how lots of the houses in Deventer used to have back alleys that were almost unreachable, but houses were stacked on and in and on top of each other, there would ba almost no real 'streets' leading to your back or front door.
Maybe then, the houses here don't have actual back gardens as you would have in the rest of the Netherlands, and maybe then that's also why the fronts of the houses are showing so much pride - with benches and pots and plants and colours and everything.
Just maybe, I really just thought of this while writing this short post.
