I found back my old smartphone lensbaby lens in the bottom of a bag. I bought it when I was revalidating on the couch and missed taking pictures too much. Taking pictures from the couch didn't get me interesting results, but if I use an interesting lens that transforms ordinary subjects into interesting ones? Then maybe!

Thus my reasoning for buying this lens.

I clipped it on my smartphone today for the first time in 2 years while taking a walk through a forest. It's a difficult lens to use and you have to practice a lot to get good results with it. If you don't want to use the 'lensbaby app' (which I don't for several reasons) you have to use your camera's native camera app which doesn't really know how to translate the lens. So you end up seeing the world not just transformed from the lens's features, but the world is upside down as well. Left is right, up is down. And the brain just can't keep up with taking pictures like that.

So while taking pictures with this lens I either have to concentrate really hard, trying to make the lens focus on the subject I want it to focus on, or, and that's what happens most of the time, simply move and move and move the camera until it sort of focusses on the thing I want to capture.

To keep a long story short, if I get 1 or 2 'good enough' pictures from 1 photo session with this lens, I'm more than happy. I'm going to edit a few more tomorrow to see how many I got today. This one I like because I actually got the leaves I wanted to capture in the center of my lens thanks to moving the smartphone a lot. ;-)
