Between all the blogs in which I'm looking forward to going to SteemFest I've not posted a lot about photography which is a bad sign. I've promised myself I always need to keep enough time in my weeks so I can experiment and make things - my visual needs are my emotional outlet as well.
Buying a house, possibly
Now, we're looking to buy a house and thinking about that, the financing part, the emotional part, the practical part - it takes up a lot of time talking, thinking, calculating and informing family and friends who want to know where we are in the process.
Every house I've lived so far I've collected a series of pictures that show 'lights and shadows' on the walls. Every house has its own light and window contours will help decide a lot the shapes that end up on the wall.
I don't know how soon we'll say goodbye to this house, might be really soon, very suddenly, but just this week I captured a beautiful light that reflected in the windows of my neighbours through my own windows, on the wall.
It's a simple iPhone picture which I didn't edit. I did however create another of my series in which I look at how many variations I can make from that one picture, of which I'll share a selection.
Some variations:
I created 30 more of these, haha, because it calmed my mind so much and the shot appeared to be a perfect start to create many compositions. It's as always is the case with these photo experiments 'unfinished work' that I know will have a purpose someday.
I took the original shot while walking from one room to the next - I could have easily ignored the beautiful scenery on the wall, as I often do because I'm not constantly looking for pictures while I'm at home - it's a quite static environment.
I use these little exercises with pictures to keep being aware of what I see, what you can see if you really look, to play with 'what is' and 'what could have been'. What is the last picture you took in your own home?
