I love New York City and the very lively neighbourhoods you can find if you go to Brooklyn and Queens and all the smaller entities within these boroughs. The first time I went to NYC I spent most of my time in Manhattan, the second time I tried to get a bit deeper into 'artist mecca' Brooklyn.
One of the neighbourhoods I visited in 2014 was Red Hook. It's not the easiest of all the places to visit. I remember I had to take a little bus that was there only to bring people to IKEA, and walk from there. That was a little adventure in itself, and I remember the fun I had just to get to Red Hook.
Amazing street art
A place like Red Hook, with a lot of storage units and garages and not 'hipsterized yet' is full of street art. Where I found some very 'well kept' street art in Brooklyn, Red Hook still felt very rough around the edges. Free play for artists of all kinds! Which makes for a lovely environment for a photographer that loves street art as much as I do.
[I love the colours and details. Hands are not an easy subject to paint!]

My favourite piece of this series which I suspect (but am not sure) are all from the same artist is this one. A woman looking just over the pedestrian lane, here eyes seemingly following you everywhere you can see her. All the decorations surrounding her head make this a very attractive piece of art that truly brightens up the surroundings.

More Red Hook street art tomorrow
I found these gorgeous pieces made in Red Hook while preparing a different series of pictures of amazing street art in this neighbourhood. Since I know there's more of a story behind those pieces of the same artist I'm spending a bit more research in time before I post them. In any case, be warned: if you liked today's post, be certain to come back tomorrow! You'll be in for a treat.
I'm posting these with a friendly 'hello' to @senorcoconut, who must miss street art in New York City by now, and for @lymepoet, who is an amazing writer that loves to go out in order to spot some street art as well :-)
