The only time I ever went 'fishing' was in France. It was merely looking at how the little son of friends of my parents scooped a fish out of the water with a net and then was handed a wooden stick to smash it's head until it was dead. He was a small boy and didn't succeed the first time. It was sad to look at.

The boys on this photo are about as old as that boy was then. They seemed to have a better handle on the sport. The three of them sharing two rods, motivating each other and having fun.

I was clicking around since I found the three boys enjoying themselves with what I perceive as an 'adult male activity' (you know, the bearded guy sitting alone in a boat for a full day, philosophising life) in this urban environment a lovely surprise.

The two buys handling their rods were too occupied to notice, but the third one turned his head around and looked at me with an expression of: "What the hell do you think you're doing?!"

I think he'll be one of those adult man sitting in a boat in the middle of the lake fishing, in 20 years time. He'll feel less disturbed for sure.

The photo was taken during my 2015 travels through Russia, in the outskirts of the city Yeketarinburg. The city is very grey and not well cared for, so I often tried to find these little moments, looking for some forms of 'joy'. I'm posting this picture for @killerwhale's photo contest with the theme 'fishing'.
