"Can we do a coffee in a few weeks when I'm visiting the Netherlands?"
I don't need a very convincing excuse to meet with a fellow Steemian, but when @tarazkp flies in from Finland and proposes a meet-up... It's like the Content King of Steem giving up the chance to write another post in order to be able to have a non-written exchange of words!
A true honour, I'd say.
And yes, he talks as much as he writes, so that made for a lovely evening with wine and food and stories about... Well, I can't say really, but of course we also talked about Steem.
To me these little meet-ups are what makes my experience on Steem special. I've done 'community blogging' before, when I was a teenager, and when it was still less accepted to 'meet people from the internet'. But even back then I realized how amazing it is to be able to meet all these people that you first metonline - mostly because you can speak to people who you'd normally not have met or be able to find within your own known circles.
We tend to socialize in circles that are often very narrow: same level of education, same economic status, same 'way of life'. On Steem we might have a similar 'pull' that directed us on here (interest in crypto, financial freedom, censorship-free writing), but even those reasons are still quite diverse, let alone our backgrounds and life's stories.
So yes, it's a gift, meeting up with a fellow Steemian, hearing about their lives, their stories, their reasons for being on Steem. So I'm glad we did just that, and on the way back to the train made even better plans for a possible next visit to The Netherlands.
Thanks for the lovely evening Taraz! And see you next time.
Over-edited duo-tone selfie on top of this post because these selfies I make with the front lens of an old iPhone never turn out good anyway. But it's about the capture of our smiles. I just now realize that the edit became a very Red Light kind of edit. Or was it the glow of a few glasses of wine?
