Life is an anecdote | #3

anecdote.jpg

I'm having a BBQ at my neighbour's house, literally 2 doors from my own. Our front doors overlook the same garden, so everything I see is very familiar.

The neighbour's cat is a black and white one I know very well: she likes to sit on my soft and textured couch next to my front door. She often hisses at me when I walk past my own (!) couch. Ah well. Cats know we humans are here to serve them, right?, so I've accepted that she's regularly commanding me not to disturb her.

While I'm overlooking the garden and meat is sizzling on the BBQ I notice something strange. Black crows hovering the garden, flying up, flying down, chasing my neighbour's cat.

Somehow black crows can give off a very intimidating feeling. I'm observing the scene and how it changes the overall peaceful feeling I normally have while sitting at this place.

I'm pointing to the cat and the way she seems to be picked at by the crows. At one point I feel like they almost captured her.

My neighbours tell me one of the crows was chased by one of the other black and white cats past week. How these crows are known to remember faces. How since their brother died they now hover the garden and chase black and white cats.

It's crow revenge.

I shiver a bit. The piece in my garden has been disturbed by an awful killing. Revenge is taking place and as I'm writing this piece crows are flying very very close to my window.

I might have to chase the cat from my couch more often. I don't want the crows to think we're friends.

'Life is an anecdote' is my blockchain notebook with (hopefully) timeless little stories and observations from daily life. I used to write stories like these for years in Dutch, and am challenging myself to write similar short stories in English on Steemit.

If you're here, I am very proud of the art piece I made for #WHISPER Gallery II - read more about it here! There's some birds in it too, but luckily, they are not crows :-)
