### Does generosity still exist? Hell yeah! The lovely enthusiastic silver stacking fanatic @silversaver888 decided she wanted to make me the 10th! female silver stacker on the STEEM blockchain by... GIFTING me my first 2 silver coins!
Since I arrived on Steemit I've come across so many people who are walking around in 'different worlds' than I do. One of those worlds is the silver and gold stacking community - people I don't meet in my daily life. It's a fascinating activity - slowly but surely turning money into 'real value' silver and gold, some might do it for the fun of it, some might have real issues with FIAT money, some might be serious collectors... But one thing is for sure: the community around the subject is alive, and very much so on STEEM as well!
Although I first met @silversaver888 in @steemsugars, she's recently become my family member in @thealliance, but it appears we're now in a more underground group as well... Those of female silver stackers!
So what do the first two silver coins I ever possessed look like?
First, I got this year's 'American Eagle', a very heavy coin, and huge! You immediately recognize you hold something of value of you lay this one in your hand:
The second coin I got is a gorgeous little Dime from 1941! Now that's an amazing contrast with the American Eagle, small, light-weight, and you can even see it has been used - yes, people used to pay with real silver eh?!
What now?
I actually have a thousand questions now I have received my first two coins, like, in random order:
- What should my goal be for silver stacking? Do people see this as their retirement fund, a hedge agains FIAT failure? Is it the silver itself that is valuable or is the collector's side of it? I'd love to know!
- How can I take better pictures of these coins? (Photographer's mind was working overtime, decided to start with simple smartphone shots!)
- How do I treat that little dime? Do I get it out of that package or do I keep it in, in order to save the notes? Or do I keep track of these notes in a different way? What does VF+ mean?
- Where to buy coins, preferably in The Netherlands, Europe? What to watch out for while buying?
Well, that's a lot, and just as it took me months to learn all the ins & outs of STEEM/Steemit/Steem Blockchain I'll reserve some time in my calendar to learn more about silver stacking the coming weeks and months ;-)
I honestly was smiling like crazy when this package including a lovely note arrived all the way from the US from @silversaver888 this morning! What a lovely reminder of how generous people are and how we're all connected together in ways we were not able to before - via this lovely blockchain. I would probably never have entered a Facebook group on silver stacking, but through Steemit all these kind of communities are so open and you're able to discover them through a people first basis, instead of a subject first one. I'm excited to learn more and who knows what adventures this will bring me on!
