All roads that don't connect the coastal towns of the Northern Highlands go to Lairg which lies in the middle of this area. After two weeks of driving the coastal roads, we decided to give into our curiosity to see how the 'inner Northern Highlands' looked like and drive to Lairg.
We were not disappointed. Breathtaking Lochs, empty roads, lots of mountains and dramatic skies were our reward. My favorite picture of that trip by far is this one.
I was already preparing the shot when I noticed the little boat on the Loch. I have not been able to figure out where the boat came from: the house was abandoned, I didn't see a car, and as far as I know there was no village or even a non-abandoned house in the area.
Ghost boat under a dramatic sky close to an abandoned home with probably several hunted ghosts - anyone inspired to write a story?
