10 FACTS, 1 LIE: The Reveal!

tenfactsonelie.jpg So! After a few days of many wrong guesses, it's time for THE BIG REVEAL! I must disappoint you: no-one really guessed my lie! So y'all better get reading because apparently I have been able to keep most of my secrets very well!

Facts about my body

01 | I have a big scar on my forehead after someone hit me with a stick TRUE: I was still in primary school when it happened and I got quite a few stitches because of it. It was during a play where the younger brother of my friend thought he would make music with a stick from a tree that instead landed in my forehead because, well, stuff happens during play. You know what the doctor that stitched me up said to me, while my mother was almost fainting because of all the blood she saw? "I'm going on my pension in a few months, so I've been doing this for a while now, but I've never had to stitch such a big hole in someone's head before!"

Remember this if I ever act weird is all I'm saying.

Sorry @sukhasanasister! Lovely faces get smashed too!

02 | I have a tiny scar on my right hand because I once was bitten by a pony by the name of Goofy TRUE: Yes, that pony really was called Goofy! Haha! Never try touching a pony that is being fed bread from others around you so he can mistake your hand for bread!

Sorry @the-puppet-patch! Pony's get the weirdest names sometimes :-)

03 | I once got bitten in my right thumb by a jellyfish - The very next day I got bitten by a jellyfish in the left thumb as well TRUE: Unbelievable, but true! It was in Spain. They never even encounter jellyfishes over there, except that year, there was a jellyfish plague! You have to know I love swimming in open water. I had waited for days before the red warning flag turned orange and then turned green. I could swim again! I did and got bitten by a jellyfish, got to a First Aid that was set up especially for the plague. I remember having to put my name down next to a number (I was somewhere in the 6000's!), it was that special this happened. Next day we went to a different beach in the area, there was another green flag. What are the chances? But hell yeah, I got bitten in the other thumb as well! Again I had to go to First Aid for a special salve.

Fun fact: my mother still sends me pictures from jellyfishes whenever she sees one in an aquarium or lying on the beach :') She must really love me.

Sorry @appiepearl, @livinguktaiwan, @amritadeva and @dfinney!

04 | I was born with a dislocated hip - I spent the first months of my life in a cast in order to get the hip ball into its socket TRUE: Sometimes I feel like all other physical complaints I've had to deal with since as long as I remember stem from this, but this suspicion has never been confirmed.

Sorry @welldoneman!

Facts about my mind

05 | The first song I could sing in English was don't worry be happy by Bobby McFerrin TRUE: Although I at first wrote down this was a song by UB40 - I corrected it thanks to comments by @didic and @vimma. But... despite that, it's true! I was barely 2 years old and had no experience in speaking English, I wasn't even at school yet, but I still sang this song, and my mother tells me people were really surprised by it and asked how I could sing in English. She didn't understand either.

Sorry @didic, @vimma, @trucklife-family and @yidneth!

06 | I have a masters degree (MSc) in Educational & Developmental psychology with a specialization on the topic of autism TRUE: And no-one even suspected this was not true, so this fact must totally fit my online presence :-)

Facts about me as 'The Wanderer'

07 | I have been to the most Southern city of the world TRUE: Ushuaia is mostly referred to as the most southern city in the world and I've been there!

Sorry @gabyoraa and @meanmommy33 and @limabeing and @wildempress! I visited it during a 10 week adventure through Argentina right after my studies :-)

08 | I have lived abroad for half a year during my studies FALSE: It was easy to fall for this trap! People who read my blog know I travel a lot and therefore assume living abroad half a year is not that crazy! And I played with that by putting this 'fact' between the other ten :-) But I actually never did live abroad, although I've been away from home for months at a time it was always traveling and not staying on one place for more than a month at a time :-)

The only one who came close to guessing was the lovely @artizm but she actually thought I might have lived abroad more than half a year! Glad to have fooled y'all!

09 | I once lost my passport while abroad and the police then told me I had to lie to the police or I would not be able to get back to my country TRUE: Totally! This story is too good to summarise here so I will make a blog post about it! Sorry @paulavg and @lymepoet! And @bil.prag you made me laugh wit your comment: "you did not say where it was. i think that is the most normal thing police would tell you :D" Made me realise this is a story that baffled me because of where I come from and how things are arranged here indeed :-)

10 | In 2015 I slept in more than 20 different beds in 1 year TRUE: It was actually hard to count because I forgot about a few of them, but it's definitely more than 20 beds that year :-) Most of the beds were in Russia, a few were in night trains, some were in Mongolia, a few were back in the Netherlands where we lived 5 months without a real home.

11 | I've traveled to 26 countries not counting layovers from flying TRUE: And I will probably create an overview on this blog in the future - it's always fun to talk travel statistics!

Sorry @lilycampbell! Although I've re-counted a few times to make sure, I really think 26 is the correct number!

That's it! Thanks for playing, I hope you had as much fun as I did! And although I rarely nominate people: if you are playing or want to play, feel free to do so and share your link with me!
